I grew up in Santa Clara, California, so I will forever be loyal to the 49ners and the Giants. Here are a few of my favorite things: I love the water. I swam on the USD swim team for two years, and I am still most content if I am by the beach, pool or lake. I love music. Those who know me well will tell you that I’m almost always singing my way through the day. I love to travel. Whenever we have a break, I usually book a flight to see friends or explore a new city. My next destination is Argentina where I will be working for three weeks this summer!Like many of the students in our class, Spanish is my second language! I have studied in Mexico City and Ensenada, and I also participated in a summer immersion program at the Middlebury Language School. I love the Spanish language and culture, and I truly value the opportunity for students to learn in a bilingual environment. Kindergarten dual immersion is a bit of a roller coaster ride- it can be challenging and emotional at first (for all of us!), but it is so worth it in the end. The students’ growth is truly incredible. So sit tight and enjoy the ride!
Hello! My name is Danielle Smith, and I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten as part of the Camarena Team! This is my fourth year teaching kindergarten. Before that, I attended the University of San Diego (USD) for my undergraduate studies and my teaching credential. Then I took an east coast adventure, and I studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for my Masters Degree. Although I loved the east coast, I am happy to be back in the land of sunshine.
